![]() ![]() No matter how we make it, ice cream is always a sweet, creamy, delicious summer treat! How do you make Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream? Sometimes we make super easy no-churn ice creams, and sometimes we make batches in our electric ice cream maker. We are huge ice cream fans, so it goes without saying that we make a lot of ice cream, especially in the summer months. Unlike custard base, this ice cream mixture does not use any egg yolks, nor does it need to simmer or boil in a saucepan. There is nothing better than fresh homemade ice cream. This recipe is one of my favorites, as it really takes less than five minutes to prep and get it into the ice cream maker. Make this homemade ice cream recipe with natural flavors, and avoid all artificial flavors, guar gum, cellulose gum, and corn syrup. it was so fresh tasting and different. This creamy Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream is made easily with seven ingredients like cream, mint flavoring, and chopped chocolate in your ice cream maker. The cream was enough to dilute it, though, and once it had been churned, it looked pretty much white. They still exuded a very dark gray color once chopped up fine. I was worried about the grayish color, so I tried to choose mostly mint leaves that had not discolored yet at all and were bright green, and no stems. It is indeed like pot ice cream, but in a good way. It is highly unusual and very herbaceous/grassy tasting. Perhaps the reason some of us are getting less than beautiful color from this ice cream is that we are using organic eggs?! Organic eggs have very orange/yellow yolks, so that might be it? I really liked this recipe, but it isn't off the charts so just three forks. And yes, the best way to add the chocolate is to melt it and then slowly pour it into the freezer as it churns. ![]() Mint flavor was distinct and fresh tasting, but not overpowering. It wound up with a nice smooth texture and light green color. Also, muddled the mint in the sugar first, then heated that together with the milk and cream. 1.5 cups cream, 1.5 cups 2% milk to make it lighter. Great recipe, although I altered it a bit. Everyone agreed, it was delicious and refreshing. This time I added a can of coconut milk instead of cream and omitted the chocolate chips. I have made this recipe before (with half the amount of mint) and liked it. I substituted 3 cups of half&half, halved the amount of mint and used bittersweet chocolate with cocoa nibs. I add mini semi sweet chips when I scoop it out so the chocolate doesn't freeze. I use 3 C of half and half, 1 C of mint leaves, and 4 egg yolks in place of 2 eggs. It got rave reviews from a 2 year old and the old folks too. I also cut down on the butterfat using 1 1/2 cups of whole milk and the same of half and half. Loved this! I used half of the stated mint but I think next time I would use 1 1/2 cups. I boiled the mint with the cream AND milk and then strained the mint out before mixing in the egg and sugar to make the custard. My green color was beautiful but then again it was FRESH! I got it out of the garden and immediately used it. I used the full 2 cups packed mint but made sure not to get any stems or bruised leaves. Not sure why you guys got a grey tint to your ice cream. I will never make this again, it is the worst ice cream recipe I have ever tried hands down. I made this ice cream and it was terrible, the color was identical to spinach, there were chunks even after I sieved it twice, it didn't churn, and it tasted nothing like mint. Instead of regular mint, we used chocolate mint (which we planted specifically for making chocolate mint ice cream). The amount of work making it versus going to the store is relative to my decision to not make it again. I probably will not be making it again, because I am nuts about Dreyer's and Tillamook Choc. It made a difference to bring it close to what we are used to (store bought) as far as I am concerned. I followed the recipe to a tee, except I put a few drops of peppermint oiling it. It is a very weird color, no one can deny that. But only the amount of Mint leaves for one batch. Disgusting he garlic power made it taste all bad ![]()
